The Department of Classical and Oriental Ethnology is devoted to the study of the cultures of the ancient Mediterranean world and the Near East as they relate to the Bible.  The Biblical world was not confined to ancient Palestine, but in fact was part of a larger network of socieites.  As such, each of those societies and their cultural components comprise the focus of this department.
